At Blume, we really try to tie the conversation about mental health and physical health together, because they go hand in hand. For example, our blends are all caffeine-free to help avoid additional stress & anxiety.
I have a morning routine and a nighttime routine that I stick to no matter what. In the morning I always wake up and have a glass of water, followed by 10 minutes of stretching. At night I turn off completely before bed – so no phone, no TV, no emails, nothing. This gives me time to reset and unwind so that I can get a good nights’ sleep, and separate this space from my workspace.
“That’s become really hard because of COVID…so where are the boundaries between work and life and sleep and family and friends. It all sort of blends together. And so something that has been extremely important for my wellness is separating them from one another, and preserving [family, friends, and personal time] for me and for my well-being.”
For me, it’s working hard and being kind to people – and that’s more of a mantra than a quote, but it’s something I make a point to live by.
I try to think about that when doing anything in my life. So even when it comes to working with vendors or giving feedback to my team. Everyone is going through something in their life, and I truly believe that leading with kindness gets you a lot further in life than getting frustrated and impatient.
Keep exercising, keep moving, and make small changes. It’s really easy to say “OK, I’m not going to eat any sugar for 30 days and I’m not going to drink any coffee,” but it can be really difficult to maintain big changes like that. And if you end up falling off, it can feel very defeating.
My advice would be to make really small micro-changes, and little incorporations here and there to lead a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.
A lot of thought and love goes into all of our products and ingredients, but the one that I would say I use the most is the Chilly Turmeric.
I use it with lemon and ginger every morning, and it’s just a good way for me to start my day and hydrate.
I also have a sweet tooth, so I tend to drink the Cacao Turmeric blend after dinner and that really helps satisfy that craving. It also helps reduce stress and helps me unwind and settle into my evening
